Origin Story

One day, on a warm 2020 day, my parents invited all my friends over to do a food drive. This was all just for fun. All the kids sat in the middle, making sandwiches while a NFL playoff game was going on. Seahawks vs Eagles. After all the food was made (and the seahawks won), me and my parents went to drop it off at the shelter. When I looked inside the shelter, I saw so many kids, without a home and nothing but a thin mattress to sleep on. This sight inspired and scared me so much. I was scared to see kids my age without a home, food or a proper place to sleep. This was in my mind for weeks, Then Covid happened . We couldn’t eat in our favorite restaurants outside of home. One day when I was making dumplings with my mom. I thought about how we are all stuck at home who will be bringing food for those kids without home. I had an idea, why don’t I start my own food drive? My thought process for this was that we only made dumplings because my favorite dumpling store was closed due to covid. But then, the homeless people already not getting that much food would now have basically nothing. So to initiate my food drive, I took my moms phone out of her hands and contacted all my friends. “Hey, you want to start a food drive to support the underprivileged?” Thus, my food drive was born. We have been doing this for 5 years doing the drive once a month. We would cook enough food to feed more than 35 people at that shelter and everything was made by a kid.
